This design-build project for an artist’s palette table led to an investigation of custom sliding shelves and drawers. The artist required that supplies be visible at all times, thus a floating storage system was developed that allowed access from both sides of the cart. The acrylic shelves and drawer bottoms allow light to penetrate to the surfaces below and are secured by freely by the aid of thin aluminum extrusions.
